University services interrupted by a power outage at a Rutgers data center on the evening of Thursday, January 18, should now be operating normally.
A number of information technology services and resources, such as Canvas, Sakai, and some university websites, were unavailable or intermittently available during the power outage and repairs, which took place from approximately 7:30-11:45 p.m. at Hill Center at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Some users of the Rutgers Connect and ScarletMail email systems also experienced periodic problems accessing email.
Rutgers IT professionals and staff from other Rutgers units responded immediately to repair equipment and remedy the situation, and power was restored several hours after the outage began. Contingency plans minimized the impact on Rutgers Connect and ScarletMail, as well as the Rutgers.edu website.
Additional repairs at Hill Center will be necessary.
The Office of Information Technology will notify the university community about any service interruptions expected as part of these repairs.
