The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk and Computer Labs are holding an annual hiring drive for student workers from now until Wednesday, February 21.
OIT is looking for bright, self-motivated students with a knack for meticulous troubleshooting. Working for the Help Desk or Computer Labs is a great starting point for students looking to work in information technology, regardless of major. All majors are accepted and no experience is required. Hundreds of positions will be available for the Fall 2018 semester and training will be paid over the summer. Working at OIT makes for a great addition to any resume and it’s a solid opportunity to build technical skills.

The emergency repair work at the Hill Center data center has been completed. Rutgers IT services are currently being restored. As announced previously, some services may be unavailable for an hour or more after the work is completed.

University Facilities and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be completing emergency repairs to the Hill Center’s electrical infrastructure on Saturday, January 27, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Multiple university IT services will be unavailable during this period.
This work is necessary to repair damage to the electrical distribution system from last week’s outage.
University services interrupted by a power outage at a Rutgers data center on the evening of Thursday, January 18, should now be operating normally.
Systems used for student registration and related services were temporarily unavailable starting at about 1:10 p.m. this afternoon due to technical issues. The problem was corrected, and student systems were accessible within about an hour.

As of 10 p.m. on January 15, the Office of Information Technology Help Desk is operating normally after experiencing temporary problems.
The Office of Information Technology Help Desk is currently unable to respond to support calls due to technical issues with the Help Desk phone system.
The issues began on the evening of January 15. OIT will update the Rutgers community when the problems are resolved.

The latest updates to the operating systems for Macintosh computers, iPhones, and iPads include patches for a serious vulnerability in the wireless encryption standards used for Wi-Fi networks.
All users should install these updates: macOS 10.13.1 and iOS 11.1. If you have automatic updates enabled on your computer and mobile devices, the updates may already be installed.
