OIT’s second annual Hot Dogs for Hunger event was held on Thursday, June 24th in Grove 2 of Johnson Park, Piscataway, NJ. The concept behind the event was to encourage OIT staff to bring at least three non-perishable food items for donation to Rutgers Against Hunger (rah.rutgers.edu). OIT, in conjunction with RAH, designated Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (ship908.com) as the recipient of the OIT donation. In return for the food items they brought, OIT staff received hot dogs and soft drinks.
Though the weather was very hot and humid, the event produced a great turnout. Two picnic tables were loaded with food donations and cash donations topped $300.
The event also offered OIT staff an opportunity to get out of the work environment and mingle with their fellow workers, all while supporting a good cause.
